Chrome pencil holder and phone stand are based on the Shure Brothers 55D microphone made famous by a young Elvis Presley while on tour in 1955 – 1957.

Story:

Shure Brothers Audio has been making professional audio equipment since 1931. They were founded by Sydney Shure in Chicago IL. He was innovative and received many patents related to capturing, recording and playing back music.

The 55D also known as “Fat Boy” was a wonderful live performance microphone utilizing single-element, unidirectional coils. This microphone was also used by Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Martin Luther King.
