Interesting and original table light made from a vintage projector of long ago. This projector was a technical breakthrough in the 1930s. It featured simpler and more accurate 8mm film-threading process and a 500-watt bulb that could project movies onto a huge screen. It is made with cast iron and weighs more than 25 pounds.

This projector lamp is made with the finest new lighting components available. This includes:

  • Ten (10) foot long vintage inspired fabric cord with 2-prong plug
  • 3-way switch supports both 120 volts and 240 volts
  • Heavy duty metal and chrome E26 socket, standard medium socket, with a heavy-duty harp and finial
  • Includes Cree 3-way LED lightbulb 40/60/100-watt equivalent with 2700K warm light
  • Maximum 150 watts
  • All parts are UL component listed (c UR us) for United States and Canada

We start with the vintage projector we procure through various camera and antiques dealers nationwide. It has been sitting in an attic or basement for 50+ years and is mechanically not working and non-functioning. We lovingly visually restore it with the following:

  • Removal of nicotine, mold, mildew with various solvents
  • Dissemble and clean the lenses and optics
  • Metal polishing using various cleaners and polishing agents
  • Application of a lacquer clear coat
  • Metal film reels are refurbished and painted
  • Please note: Each light is a little different and will not match the pictures exactly. The projector while clean and complete will have 50 to 80 years of wear and patina that gives it awesome character! Think of all the memories the thing captured. Contact us with questions.

The Keystone Equipment and Toy Company originated in Boston, MA in 1910. The company began making movie cameras and projectors ten years later. In the 1930s it released easy to use color movie cameras and its iconic R8 projector.

Projector Description

The R8 was revolutionary because it made threading 8mm film easier, all the Bakelite controls were built into the body, and utilized a 500-watt bulb capable of projecting a 10-foot-wide picture frame. This projector also featured special designed gearing and shutter mechanism that made for crisper images.
