We start with the vintage camera we procure through various camera and antiques dealers nationwide. It has been sitting in an attic or basement for 50+ years and is non-functioning. We lovingly visually restore it with the following:
- Removal of nicotine, mold, mildew with various solvents
- Dissemble and clean the lenses and optics
- Metal polishing using various cleaners and polishing agents
- Leather cleaning, repair and conditioning

Story Summary
Spielberg’s work spans four decades and includes some of Hollywood’s most successful and cherished movies. Born in 1946 he began making home movies when he was 12 using his dad’s 8mm movie camera and his own model trains.
He gradually got other kids to act in his short movies. A nine-minute 8 mm film entitled “The Last Gunfight”, earned him the Boy Scouts photography merit badge.
Camera Description
The Bolex B8SL featured the convenience of a built-in light meter displayed in the view finder. This was a high-end 8mm movie camera for home use. It was made of heavy aluminum body, covered in genuine Moroccan leather and the metal parts were chrome plated. It included a two-lens turret for quick change of d-mount lenses. Like most 8mm cameras its capacity was 25-foot spools that are flipped after about two minutes of filming. When the film was developed, it was cut in half making a 50-foot spool of finished film, approximately 4 minutes of memories.
