We start with the vintage camera we procure through various camera and antiques dealers nationwide. It has been sitting in an attic or basement for 50+ years and is non-functioning. We lovingly visually restore it with the following:
- Removal of nicotine, mold, mildew with various solvents
- Dissemble and clean the lenses and optics
- Metal polishing using various cleaners and polishing agents
- Leather cleaning, repair and conditioning

Story Summary
Norma Jeane married James Dougherty a next-door neighbor in 1942. In early 1944 he joined the war effort and was in the Pacific for over two years. Norma Jeane signed up as a factory worker a munitions factory as soon as she turned 18. She was discovered by David Conover, a photographer who was taking morale boosting pictures for the war efforts. This became known as the Rosie The Riveter photographs taken at factories across the country.
Camera Description
The Kodak 35 Rangefinder was launched by the Eastman Kodak Company in 1940 as one of their first 35mm cameras. This model was developed in Rochester, New York when it became clear imports from the Kodak AG factory in Germany would be disrupted by war.
It featured gearing on the face for easy use with the photographer’s thumb to set the correct range. These cameras used a rangefinder mechanism to ensure the lens was focused over the film.
Celebrities loved this camera because it looked different and was easy to use. The 35mm canisters insured that the film didn’t get accidentally exposed or damaged.
